Responsible Conversations
3rd July, 2020

Bursting bubbles: how can we have more effective conversations?

It is all too easy to find ourselves ‘preaching to the converted’, especially in an age of social media ‘bubbles’. And when we stray outside of these it can be frustrating when others just don’t seem to get it. Sometimes our passion and enthusiasm may even alienate others. Conversations shape our lives but sometimes our conversations do not achieve what we intend.

We are in conversations for much of our lives, but sometimes we don’t have the conversations we need to have, or we are participating half-heartedly, or other people don’t seem to be connecting. In a responsible conversation, we plan ahead and aim for everyone’s engagement in conversation that has value for all participants.

This event, led by Dr Shirley Thompson and Mike Tanner, and in association with Responsible Project Management, explored the techniques you can use to improve conversations, bring others into our bubbles, and begin building a better future.
